“The Globalisation of War has been a project of mine now for many years. I hope you will find it informative, engaging and revealing.

“There are six books in the series that can be read sequentially, or more likely be used as reference. For example, Bretton Woods or the atom bomb are interesting subjects on their own.”

Author’s Notes: The Globalisation of War
1914-45

The set comprises six volumes covering the two world wars from 1914 to 1945. Events preceding the Great War, and those following 1945, are only dealt with incidentally.

The great leaders of the twentieth century are dealt with in detail but there are other figures that may not have received the recognition they deserved. They include Jan Smuts, Harry Dexter White, John Maynard Keynes and Leslie Groves. Shakespeare’s plays are not discussed but his influence on world history merits questioning. Molly Bloom’s soliloquy in James Joyce’s Ulysses marks the liberation of women. The meeting at Yalta diminished Churchill and the role of Britain as a major power broker.
